Mackinac Island, along the road.

Just beautiful!

Mackinac Island, Part 3

This is the bridge connecting the upper and lower penisular of Michigan. It is the sixth highest bridge in the world.
Our carriage for the day.
Lake Huron, second largest of the five Great Lakes.
It's quite a feeling when you walk by the beach, the fierce sound of the wave and the depth of the water.
You can find zillion of rock piles around perimeter of the island.

Mackinac I, Part 2

Motor vehicles are prohibited on the island. The main transportation is carriage and bicycle. We pedal round the perimeter of the island, 8.5 miles on this!
Grand Hotel Golf Course. The only golf course in the world that golfer were taken from the from nine to the back nine by carriage, vice versa.
2/3 of all the shops are fudge shop. We were being told that we don't really need to buy any, just carry an empty box and go into each shop for sample and you will get a box full of fudge of various flavour by the end of the day!
Some typical building on the island.

Mackinac Island, Part 1

Mackinac Island is an island resort up north Michigan at the Upper Penisular of Michigan. 80% of the island i s preseved as Mackinac Island State Park. The famous Vitorian Grand Hotel. It has the longest balcony in the world measuring two and half football field. You got to pay $10 just to get it if you are not the guest but, is well worth it; the interior is speactacular and the view for the viewing deck is amazing!
There are about 500 permenant residence in the island. These are not their home, there are the summer houses of the rich, and the exlusive accomodation for tourist. St. Ann's church is at the front.
Fort Mackinac by the British during the American Revolutionary War. Mackinac Island was an important port for fur trade during the 18th century.
The Arch Rock. The Great Lakes are formed by melting graciers, and the receding lakewaters eroded the limestone bedrock, forming the island's steep cliffs and rock formation.
Amazing view from the peak (Fort Holme).

Summer holiday, 2010 - family and my four legged babies

Met up with my uncle Paul which I haven't seen for almost twenty years and, his son, my cousin Victor. My first time meeting Victor, he is already 10. He is tall for his age and very bright, too. Uncle Paul looks great for his age, too. He is 70. Just ironic, he stayed less than 10km away from me for the pass twenty years and we never meet up due to our busy life style. I guessed that's never a reason or excuse for being too busy, we just have to make time for something and I hope I learned my lesson well and, definately will spend more time catching up with him and his family.
